Local council chooses Vee™ interlocking blocks again for its recycling facility expansion

Elite Precast Concrete has been called upon by a local authority again, after its products proved a tried and tested solution for its recycling facility expansion.

Oadby and Wigston Council in Leicestershire contacted Telford-based Elite Precast Concrete after expanding its Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) following a £1.6 million grant from the Government Waste Support Scheme.

The council needed to create two additional storage bays, each to be used to segregate recycling before it is processed. The bays, measuring 16m deep by 3m wide, required one hundred and seventy of Elite Precast Concrete's Vee™ interlocking blocks to complete the project. The blocks were linked together along the base, sides and top, and formed a highly stable structure.

Two hundred and fifty blocks from Elite Precast Concrete were previously used by the council to replace storage bays which were not large enough, or durable enough, to withstand the harsh environment.
